We neither expect nor desire wedding gifts. Your good wishes, and, if it is possible for you to attend, the gift of your presence are the only gifts we want. Really! We have too much stuff!
Therefore we are not registering anywhere for gifts.
However, we know there will be some of you who won't be dissuaded. We know you understand we are already overwhelmed with stuff, but you just really want to do something, you love us and you just can't resist. So, we are providing a handy list of alternative ideas.
We will be creating a scrapbook or album of all the cards and personal notes we receive. We expect this to be one thing we will treasure for a long time. So feel free to get creative with your card, and consider writing a note which we will immortalize.
If you bring a flower or two to the ceremony, there will be a vase to put it in, and a unique bouquet will be created which reflects, perhaps, a little bit of each of you. We will bring it home with us to enjoy and remember the celebration.
We did this at Winter Solstice / Christmas this year, and it was awesome. If you must wrap something, consider wrapping one or more notes or easy craft items in a small box (we used empty tea boxes). Wrap your card! Wrap a letter of encouragement. Wrap a piece of origami. Wrap a drawing your child made. Wrap a snapshot of your family or a favorite pet. Wrap a heart cut out of red construction paper. It's a bonus if it's something we can include in the scrapbook of cards and notes.
Small objects, small drawings, poems, songs, short stories, photographs. These are wonderful because they are creative gifts. We can enjoy them for years to come, and we will always remember you. We request that you keep them small in size and small in budget.
Consider giving a small donation to your favorite charity. Or to one of ours, and then let us know about it.
